1.

Some Auhagen construction sets are combined with accessory parts made of cardboard that is produced using lasercut technology. These parts can include window latticework, gates, railing and similar objects. We recommend that you reinforce the stability of these highly delicate parts by coating them in matt varnish prior to working on them.

2.

To do so, apply a full, undiluted coat of matt varnish to one entire side and then immediately to the other. This prevents warping or misshaping of the cardboard parts.

3.

It is best to hang the parts up to dry and then only proceed to work on them further once there is no longer any trace of residual moisture.

4.

Then carefully cut the required pieces out of the blank using a sharp utility knife.

5.

Use special care when cutting out the guardrails. It is very easy to cut in the wrong place.

6.

If you want to display the gate open, place a steel ruler in the middle and cut the two gate wings apart from each other applying light pressure with a utility knife.

7.

Now place the steel ruler on the “hinges” and slide a knife blade completely underneath the gate wing up to the ruler.

8.

Press down the ruler firmly with one hand and use the knife blade with the other hand to slowly and carefully raise the gate wing directly upwards. Never bend the parts freehand!

11.

Apply matt varnish with a soft brush in order to avoid glue residue when inserting the window latticework.

12.

Carefully use tweezers to insert the delicate lattices.

13.

Attach the stabilised staircase with superglue. Be very careful to only use the smallest possible amount and to keep your tools free from glue!
